Wangdue Forest Division was established at Lobesa under Punakha Dzongkhag in 1990. This Division is one of the biggest Territorial Forest Division in Bhutan covering an area of 5030.00 sqkms. Geographically, this Division is located within the strategic point and it is portal entry for 17 Dzongkhags. It is also the main route for many significant cultural sites and access point for habitat of many globally significant animal and bird species. Wangdue Forest Division is divided into various Ranges and Forest Management Units for administration and management of forest. The Ranges are further subdivided into Beats and Sub-Beats. The ultimate aim is to deliver the forestry services to the grass hood level for the benefit of the major population of our rural communities.
