Sometime within February
2016, the people of Nahi under Wangdue Dzongkhag reported about the sighting of
black Bear with two cubs at Hebisa to the forestry officials of Wangdue
Division. Similarly, the Division also reported the matter to the rescue team of
the Wildlife Conservation Division (WCD); nonetheless, the WCD decided not to
translocate the animal since the area is cliffy cave and risky to tranquilize
due to geographic condition. The Division also had put that area under the
strict surveillance and informed the general public and the entire trespasser to
be extra vigilant as directed by the Chief of WCD.
With the time, the two cubs
grew into beautiful teddy and absconded from the cave. Lately, on 30th
May 2016 the people of Nahi informed on sighting of solitary Bear cub in
vicinity of their agriculture field. The Division immediately visited the site
and found out that the mother and a cub left the cave and abandoned another.
The rescued three-four months old cub is handed over to the rescue team of
Wildlife Conservation Division (WCD) on 7th June 2016.
