The Wangdue Forest Division at Lobesa invites interested 2016 forestry
graduates of College of Natural Resources to participate in the month-long
White-bellied Heron survey under this Division with effect from 8th
July 2016 until 9th August 2016.
During the
time, the survey team shall entourage to all the heron sighting sites along the
Phochu, confluence of Phochu-Mochu, Punatsangchhu, Kamechu (Digchu), Zawa, Nangzhina
and Burichu confluence.
Currently, the Bhutan plays a pioneering role in
protecting the critically endangered heron with 28 individuals of this species
in their natural habitat. Indeed, the RSPN has commenced study on its ecology
and breeding behavior nonetheless, it is important to know the latest survival
of the birds along the basin so that we can reassess the impacts of hydropower.
The overall objective of the project is to enumerate the total number of herons
along the Punatsangchu basin.
Similarly, the interested graduates are asked to
contact Mr. Tashi Dendup, Head for Wildlife Conservation Section of this
Division @ 17115740 for necessary arrangements.
